sun-n-sand

On Friday we headed over to Louis Lake to cool off a bit. It has been so hot in town lately! The cool water felt sooo goooood. Although we couldn't just jump right in...had to wait for it to warm up a bit before we dared dunk our heads in that ice cold water. We were there for about 5 hours just playing in the water, laying in the sand and soaking up the fresh mountain air.

Then on Saturday we were still too hot to stay home, so we all packed into the car and spent the afternoon at Frye Lake. Caught this one fish which Jason took a picture of with his phone. Didn't have another nibble the entire time. But, we ran into some friends who were camping up there and had fun visiting with them instead.

School starts 3 weeks from today....so NOT ready for the kids to go back yet!!! We're not done playing!!!

Biker Birthday!

Jackson turned four on July 15th!!

This spring, he learned to ride a bike without training wheels. Granny and Grandpa were SO SWEET to take him to the store and pick out his very own brand new bicycle (all his others were hand-me-downs) before his birthday. Must have had an influence on him, since he decided he wanted to have a biker party to celebrate his big #4!

Bike 2

The bike party was FUN. Those kids were riding all over the place - was great! Only one collision when a little guy forgot to break going downhill and clobbered another little girl. He did a nice little flip on impact (luckily on the grass) which caused her to fall and scrape her elbow on the sidewalk...but she was alright.

They had fun following each other in a big line...it was cute!!
After some pizza and homemade root beer (Thanks Jas) we had some yummy cake & ice cream.

Then opened presents. Can't believe our little "animal" is FOUR!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAX!

4TH

We had such a crazy/fun-filled fourth this year! Had to condense my pictures a bit (only took 150 in 3 days!) but tried to post the ones that captured our weekend best.
Since we have LOADS of people watch "Dr. Bills'" fireworks behind our house on the 3rd, Kaycee and Jackson decided to take advantage of the crowd by opening up their first ever root beer stand. Jas helped make the brew and they did the rest themselves. They certainly weren't shy about vocal advertising....it was borderline harassment. Especially when 3 of their friends came by to help out. The hyperactive sugar induced kids managed to land some customers and made a bit of money (and even a few tips). Even though it didn't prove the most cost-effective activity, they had a ball!

The Lander parade was nice and cool this year and we were so glad Granny and Grandpa drove all the way out here to watch it with us! The kids tried to find the best location to catch all of the airborne candy and did a good job. They collected a bunch.
The best part of the parade is at the end when the firetrucks unleash giant streams of water onto the crowd. This is the first year Kaycee wasn't shy about it at all! She just ran underneath those huge spouts of water and soaked it up....she was soppin wet afterwards!! Lander's version of Seven Peaks!

4th....cont'd

After the parade (and attempting to take a cat nap) we did some sparklers, snakes, spinning flowers, flying ladybugs (which rocked!), bottle rockets, fountains, and firecrackers. Then watched our neighbors AWESOME fireworks show once it was dark. Jackson actually fell asleep on my lap outside during the show and Kaycee was begging to go to bed. So, we all turned in before the show was even close to being over.

Oh yeah, we also had fun getting tatoo'd for the holiday. I think Granny's "tat" was sweet!

Kinda sad the "hump" of summer is over, but we had a fabulous fourth!!
